Gorgeous historic orotone, or goldtone, photograph by Seattle, Washington photographer JAMES BERT BARTON (American/Washington, moved to WA 1891, d. 1967) of the State's famed Mt. Rainier from Paradise Valley, complete with alpine wildflowers. Created ca. late 1910s - 1920s, the orotone/goldtone photographic process was a regional phenomenon in the Pacific Northwest. Housed in the original gilt gesso Edward Curtis pie crust, or batwing, style Arts & Crafts frame.

  • Orotone photographic glass plate in very good antique condition. Orotone plate measures approximately 11" x 14," and the piece measures approximately 15-1/2" x 17-1/2" overall including the frame.
