Extremely rare large-format historic orotone, or goldtone, photograph by famed Seattle, Washington photographer EDWARD S. CURTIS (1868 - 1952, American/Washington + Californian), titled "The Old Well at Acoma." Depicting three Acoma women gathering water in traditional Acoma-style painted olla water jars at Acoma Pueblo, the image is one of Curtis' most iconic and most sought-after images. Los Angeles, California Studio, ca. 1920s. Signed lightly in the lower right, "Curtis/ LA" (see third image). Housed in the original gilt gesso Edward Curtis pie crust, or batwing, style Arts & Crafts frame, with studio label on verso.

Orotone photographic glass plate in excellent antique condition. Orotone plate measures approximately 11" x 14," and the piece measures approximately 15-1/2" x 17-1/2" overall including the original Arts & Crafts - style "pie crust" or "batwing" - style gilded frame.
